If tears could build a stairway
And memories a lane,
I'd walk right up to Heaven
And bring you back again.

Heidi came to me via my mother when she lived
in England.  I purchased Heidi for my mother
from the famed kennel of "
Duntiblae" after my
father passed away.  Two years later my
mother emigrated to Canada and brought Heidi
along with her.  Heidi really loved life in Canada
and she really blossomed into a wonderful dog
Heidi was shown only occasionally and her show career ended when she injured her cruciate, and after it was repaired it
left her with a mild limp and therefore, she could not be shown.
However, she turned out to be the foundation bitch for
"Anderlea Kennel", and I am forever indebted to her, for not
only was she the best producer I have ever had, but due to the quality of her puppies and of course the sire "
Basels's
Officer Gentleman Ben
", I earned the top Canadian Kennel Award  in Canada in 1993.  Heidi taught me a lot about
bernese and had it not been for her I would not be where I am today, for which I will always owe her my undying
gratitude. Heidi was a clown and loved life and lived it to the fullest.  I still see her sometimes in some of her grand kids &
great grand kids, so she is never really gone. Heidi passed away much too early, and she can never be replaced and will be
missed always.

Jade was such a happy girl, she always had a smile on her face and
it was a very pronounced smile as well.
Jade was that once in a lifetime show dog, and my first home bred
Champion.
She was as close to perfection as they can get.  Of course she had
a few  conformation faults, but not many.  Jade obtained her
Canadian Championship with ease and then motherhood began. I
could have campaigned her, but she was happiest at home, so
home was where we stayed.  I must say she was not the best
producer I have had, but she was indeed the happiest.  Such a
sweet gentle soul she was, and because of this she also became
my first therapy dog with St. John's Ambulance. Each year Jade
just seemed to get more beautiful, and indeed she was right to
the very end and will always stay that way.

Swissview's Mountain Mist T.T.
Breeders: Jim & Jackie Wright
July 07,1987 - July 12,  2001
Cdn. Ch. Bigpaws Willie Wonka ex
San Marco's Mountain Fancy
Misty was my very first bernese and she was to be the foundation bitch for my kennel.
Unfortunately, Misty was mildly dysplastic and therefore, could not be bred.  Misty was
shown in conformation in her early years and acquired 9 of the 10 championship points
that are required.  She earned them when it was very hard to get points as the breed
was still relatively young, and with her not liking conformation very much, I decided to
stop showing her and just let her become the boss at home.
She was the dominant female in my house for most of her 14 years, and about the age
of 12, she was getting just too old to keep up with the younger dogs, but she still let
them know of her presence. She taught them manners, and would not tolerate any
nonsense nor would she allow threats of any kind from any of the other dogs, she
really earned their respect.
Although Misty could not be bred, she was the most faithful and loving companion you
could ever wish to have, she was my protector, my friend, and to this day I miss her
presence terribly.
Lance was from my first litter out of Heidi and Ben.  In actual fact, it was he
who picked me rather than the other way around.  I had two wonderful
males and did not know which one to choose, but when he looked at me
with those sad eyes, that was it, he was staying.  Lance was a very shy dog
in his youth, but as he matured he gained the confidence I always knew he
had.
He was a large male weighing in his prime 130 lbs, but was as gentle as they
come.  Lance hated the show ring, so instead I carted with him and he really
loved that.  We carted at charity events such as Easter Seals and various
other charities. He was my gentle giant who thought it was always his duty
to protect the girls.
When they were in their runs, he would just lie outside as if to say, it's ok
girls, I am on guard for you.  Lance passed away in his 11th year, I think he
missed his precious Jade whom he adored.

Cdn. Ch. Benbern's Brigadier
Sherman ex Cdn. Ch. Anderlea's Jade
of Duntiblae TT
When Skye was a baby I did not think she would really amount to very much, in
the show ring I mean, but there was something there that said to keep her.
As it turned out I could not show her anyway because as a baby she had a rectal
prolapse and would not let the judge examine her, she just kept sitting down and
that is a not allowed in the show ring.
As it happened, Skye turned out better than I originally thought, although she
would still not allow strangers to go down her back, she did turn out to be a very
good representative of the breed. In total she had 3 litters and 19 babies.  She
was a very nurturing mother, my little Mother Earth so to speak. She was the best
mum I have ever had, so much in fact that when Raven had her 1st litter this year
and had finished nursing them, at about 5 weeks it was Skye who took over the
role of mother and in fact stood there and let the babies nurse from her and she
even cleaned and played with them and taught them manners, she just loved it.  I
know most berner moms are really good, but some are exceptional, Skye was one
of them, thank you Skye for all your nurturing.
Skye was the youngest berner that I ever lost, and it was  all within a matter of
three weeks.  Skye passed away of Immune Mediated Polyarthritis. I miss my little
girl very much, but thank her for her legacy that still lives on.

These pictures were taken of Skye in the winter of 2004.  The centre picture shows an absence of hair
on her tail, for she had just had a sebaceous cyst removed and the hair has not quite grown back.
She was not a veteran for very long, and the youngest that I have ever lost and I miss her terribly.
Swissview's Briar Rose Benbern
Breeders: Jim & Jackie Wright
August 18, 1994 - May 8, 2005
Cdn/Am. Ch. Basel's Officer Gentleman Ben ex
Cdn. Ch. Swissview's Lady Sarah
I acquired Briar for the purpose of breeding and showing.  Unfortunately, neither was in
the cards for Briar.  She has really bad hip dysplasia but you would never know it to look
at her, and it never stopped her from being the best companion you could wish for.  For all
of her life she never had a problem with her legs or hips, but of course when she got older
she sometimes got a little stiff, mostly winter time though.  She was such a happy girl
with a beautiful disposition, in fact I wanted to do therapy work with her, but because of
her happiness and undying love for people, (she put her paw around their leg to hug
them), which of course won't do in Therapy work, she just could not help being so happy.
I'm ashamed to say that I don't have very many pictures of Briar, as she was not the
easiest one to take a picture of.
I had to let Briar go recently, and the choice is never an easy one, but if you love them you
have no choice, for them to suffer for our own reasons, is totally wrong.
I will always miss her, but she is at the Rainbow Bridge playing with those who went
before her, free from any pain or discomfort.
Briar @ 9 weeks
Briar was a grand old lady of 9
years when this picture was
taken.  Apart from having a
little arthritis, she was still her
usual self. She never gave me
any trouble, as long as Briar had
her daily food, and the
occasional bone, she was a
happy girl.
at 6 years young
It took me forever to get this
picture taken, she is so
difficult to get her to sit still
for her picture to be  taken.
As you can tell, she was not
happy about it.....
The picture on the left was taken when Misty was 12 years old.  The centre and picture on the right were taken
at her 14th Birthday Party.  Unfortunately, they were also the last pictures taken of Misty, as I lost her only 4
days later.

TRIBUTE FOR KYRA
May 2000 - February 2007
You life on this earth was far too short, but in that time you
touched so many lives.  As your breeder I only knew you for
eight short weeks before you went to live with your mum &
dad Antje & Dennis in Newfoundland, but once you were there
you lived life to the fullest and were deeply loved by all that
knew you. I was always updated on your progress and have
many beautiful photo's that were sent to me.   My fondest
memory of you is while you were still at home with me is that
somehow you managed to climb out of a 30 inch high whelping
box, and to this day, no other puppy has managed to
accomplish this feat. I shall never forget that.
Your broken body has gone but your spirit will live on forever in
the hearts of many and especially for your mum & dad, Antje &
Dennis.

The two pictures to the left are of "Anderlea's Kyra N. Atlantic
Gem". Kyra lived with her mum & dad Antje Springmann and
Dennis Minty in St. John's, Newfoundland.  Kyra  lead a
wonderful life in Newfoundland with daily walks along the beach,
camping and canoeing, what more could she ask for.    As a
breeder, I thank Antje and Dennis for loving this wonderful girl
with all their heart, I could wish for no more. I know you
enjoyed your life Kyra, you were a beautiful girl, and you truly
deserved the life you were leading.
